THE SLIDE
Chapter 23 | Agents from The Slide and The Prep
Part 2: Fantasy, Mystery-Thriller, Crime
Orca’s Space
“How is it you can’t come into real time in the cabin?” Ra asked Sophia.
“Three reasons. There’s too much energy involved in materializing. I come from a time and a place to the east of the Slide thousands of years before the so-called Apocalypse. The time of the Druids and the building of the portal that came to be known as Stonehenge. This is where my Momo lives. Understand?”
“Yes, completely.” Ra made more space for her.
“The second reason is that I am invulnerable to the Dark One. My shield I’ve shown to you can only completely remain intact if I remain in dreamtime. You’ve been sloppy moving between worlds because of the team that put the block on you. But this place they cannot see into and they don’t care because they believe you are out of the way. Do you see — ”
“Do you mean using the block as my shield?”
“Exactly. You learn fast.”
“And the third reason?” Ra wondered.
“You tell me the third reason,” Sophia challenged.
Ra inhaled and exhaled. “If you came into the dimension where Farha resides the emotional bond would automatically put her in danger and by default you as well.”
“Excellent,” Sophia clapped with restrained glee and relaxed, only leaving a moderate amount of her guard in place.
Ra’s Block as Shield
Ra divided his being in three. He needed the work of three for the tasks at hand. His three selves were him at different ages in his life: a schoolboy when he was shorter and chubby, in his apprenticeship with Orca, and as himself — currently. The apprentice’s task was to monitor, learn, and assist Sophia. The school boy would monitor and help keep safe a key individual inside the slide. And Ra, in his present form, would inspect the block traps, alerts and find the way to alter it without detection from those that made and placed it.
Two of the Three Spies of the SS
“Success,” A exclaimed as Q entered.
“What? Where is Zed? He should be back by now.” Q was a bit off balance. He righted himself. “What success?”
“I have word, now decoded that the subject has been successfully been implanted with the memory that she killed LTAI. It’s complete with visuals.”
“Verified from X?”
“Of course. Who else?”
“That is good news. Great news!” Q resumed his normal demeanor.
Zed entered. “Check the array. There’s a shift going on, not in our favor.”
Sharing
Sophia, Ra, and Orca duplicated the cabin in dreamtime.
“You have tripled yourself,” Sophia was surprised. “Does this mean you can — oh yes, I see on a physical level you can make up to nine distinct bodies, each with a separate personality, but all: you. Here and… oh Spirit — on other planets, too.”
Wait, Orca reminded Ra to practice patience.
Ra’s exhalation spread out in ripples of peace.
“That means that Petra is most likely not the Dark One. The Dark One can shapeshift in some way.” Sophia was momentarily frustrated. “Ra, assist me with this.”
“Correct. It is a shapeshifting that is sometimes called ‘Consciousness Transfer’ or rarely ‘Conscious Sharing or Blending’. Transfer completely takes over the host’s body or vehicle. Either the host remembers nothing or is fed false memories when the shapeshifter leaves. Conscious sharing makes the host aware of what is happening and doesn’t cross identity boundaries. Blending can help the host be stronger.”
“Thank-you Ra. I have… We have much more work to do,” Sophia said, excitement and energy filled her being.
In Dreamtime with Farha
A small sun, about the size of a human head, floated across the green grass meadow to Farha, who was awakening from a nap.
Are you Ra? She wondered. She felt Ra’s smile and smiled up at the ball. It was Ra, and it was the Sun too.
In her mind’s eye: A thousand Berbers gathered in the High Atlas Mountains of a place that was once known as Morocco. We hear your call and we are coming to the Slide.
She smiled and hoisted herself off the ground. The trees in the orchard were singing, and she noticed swathes of lavender growing along the edge of the meadow near to the orchards. As she approached the lavender in full bloom, the light filled the air in a mist.
Farha stood by the lavender, inhaling its scent when Sophia appeared. Farha startled with a: “Hoo!” She rushed towards Sophia.
“Sophia,” and hugged her before she could say anything. When Farha released and stepped back, she said with relief, “It is so very good to see you. Is Ra in the wind?”
“No,” she said. “I came here to see you and tell you that plans are in motion for your support as The Anointed One.”
“Jeece, please do not call me that. I am Farha.”
Sophia laughed.
“You have come to access my strength?” Farha wondered.
“Yes,” Sophia blushed.
“How is it?”
“Excellent. Your light is resplendent.”
“Yes, here it can be. I must cloak it some at Fort Normandy.”
“I understand. I now go and will see you soon enough.”
