Changing Your Reality

Writing a story about how you want your home to be can change your life.

Writing stories about realities you want to create can change your actual reality. This is something I have begun to experiment with. Last week while I took a staycation here at home, I wrote a story about how I would like our home to look and feel. I already deeply love our home and I believe that our environment is so very important and helps us to live our best lives. From that deep love can come more and more growth and change in our realities.

Believing that we have the power to grow and change and effect what is around us is life-changing. My intention is that by sharing my story about my dream home, you will share your story too. When we share our true desires, we lift each other up. If I am brave enough to write this story and share it, my hope is that you will too.

It took me three or four weeks of thinking about this story for me to write it. The time to write it came upon me during our staycation. It was the perfect time to dream, plan and write. Many times along my journey I have had thoughts of “No, I shouldn’t ask for anything. No, I shouldn’t write this because it’s greedy. I’m asking for too much. I don’t deserve this.” I had to sit my mind down with lots of meditation and walking meditation to let it know that my spirit had said yes to this task. I am so very thankful that my spirit said yes, and that I get to share this story with you today. At the end I will share how it already gave me ideas to start changing my reality.

This is a story that I wrote by hand, sitting at a lovely umbrella table in the back garden of our home here in Oregon one sunny day last week:

Life Story:

I dream of a life much like today. Of birds singing, relaxing with coffee, reading and writing here in our garden.

Full of light, full of flowers, full of joy!

I imagine myself stepping out of my red Tesla, our beautiful, clean and sparkling car.

I then enter our home where I see gleaming refinished floors, beautiful tile backsplashes in the kitchen, along with stone counters!

Next, I go to our family room which has a beautiful handrail and wooden paneling. So lovely! I also love the new French doors that lead out onto the patio outside.

I decide to head upstairs to our office/guest room. I love seeing the pristine tatami mats, low lacquered table and chair. There is a pretty shelf for my Japanese vase. I feel peaceful here. It is a beautiful, tranquil and serene room now. I love how there is room to put away the futon and room for office supplies as well.

Then, I go to see our son Adam’s room with beautiful, plush new carpet. He has his own desk in the room and new blinds as well.

All over the house there are new, sparkling windows that look amazing!

In our bedroom we also have amazingly soft, new carpets, a beautiful new wood bed frame and soft, comfortable pillows.

Oh! Now on to the lovely remodeled bathrooms! The master bath is a beautiful soft gray color with black and white tiles on the floor. It has a new corner shower with glass doors. I love the new modern white vanity and square sink. So beautiful and fresh! There are loads of fluffy white towels too!

The hallway bathroom is now a beautiful teal. The floors are gleaming tile and there are silver accents.

We have a one sink vanity with an oval mirror and modern silver fixtures and lights. I love all of the towel and linen storage as well as the deep relaxing tub and shower! So pretty!

I head down now to enjoy our garden! I love the addition of a roof area over our deck. It adds needed shade and comfort. Our new tile patio is so pretty! I love how it matches our deck and how comfortable it is!

Our house is painted a lovely light gray on the outside with blue accents. So peaceful!

I am even more in love with our gorgeous home now! I have always loved it but now even more!

It’s amazing how freeing it has been to serve people online in groups as well as in person and to form communities and explore all of the possibilities. All of this allowing has brought so many resources our way. I am so grateful for the opportunities that have flowed to me effortlessly!

We love to travel and now we are able to enjoy time together traveling at least twice a year. We loved visiting the U.K. last year as well as France.

Paul is really enjoying his new work as well and is so pleased to be able to work less and enjoy more time off.

I love to create my own hours as well. It is so freeing! It is so allowing! My spirit always knows what to do. I listen to my heart and that is where the dreams materialize from.

Adam loves school and his new electives and clubs so much. He’s enjoying some new friends at his new school and some new hobbies too! He’s really embracing new things and we are so proud of him for getting out there to explore and enjoy life!

This life we have created is made of dreams. I wish this life-dream or better, whatever the universe and spirit has in store for us is what will come to be. I have faith and trust in life.

Update:

Since I wrote this story last week, I decided to make some improvements to our bathrooms. I have nearly finished painting our hallway bathroom a lovely teal color and it looks like a brand new room! I plan on cleaning, sanding and painting the floors as well. Next, I will paint the other bathroom a light gray and clean, sand and paint those floors too. We have found that we can install new light switches and outlets from supplies we found in our garage. We will also update the towel bars and hooks to start creating the rooms that we dream of. We realize that we had the tools to begin creating some of this dream.

I believe that when you begin to work on something to change it, you are showing life that you are ready for the next steps. You are ready to engage. You are ready to grow. You are ready to become. You are ready to start creating your dream. I’m ready!

Your turn:

I would love to see your dream stories too! What life do you see yourself living? What are your surroundings like? Where do you live? What changes have you made? I hope that I have inspired you to ask life for what you really dream of! You will be surprised what occurs to you doing this exercise!

I’m tagging lots of my friends here on Illumination to challenge them, if you have read this, feel free to join in! Amy Marley, Henery X (long) Michele Thill, Gurpreet Dhariwal, Suntonu Bhadra, Rasheed Hooda, KeepingItRealWithAnnick, Charlotte Zobeir Ali, Typewriter, Aurora Eliam, CMP, Kathryn A.
