Summary

The content discusses a personal narrative about a married couple, the author and Jack, who despite a strong friendship and mutual love, lack passion and chemistry in their relationship, leading the author to contemplate infidelity.

Abstract

The author reflects on their ten-year marriage to their university sweetheart, Jack. While they maintain a deep friendship and care for each other, the romantic spark has faded, and their sexual connection has become lackluster. The author acknowledges that their initial attraction was more due to youth and inexperience than genuine passion, and now they find themselves considering the idea of cheating, driven by a desire for a more fulfilling intimate relationship. An update to the story is available on the author's Substack, hinting at a potential exploration of this desire, and another related story is linked, titled "The one where I gave head," suggesting a narrative of sexual exploration outside the marriage.

Opinions

  • The author expresses a sense of dissatisfaction with the sexual aspect of their marriage, indicating it has never been particularly exciting or fulfilling.
  • There is an underlying tone of regret or longing for a more passionate relationship, which the author feels is missing with their current partner, Jack.
  • The mention of cheating suggests a contemplation of breaking marital vows in search of a more stimulating sexual experience, reflecting a significant internal conflict.
  • The author's decision to share their story and update it on a public platform indicates a desire for connection and understanding from a wider audience, possibly seeking validation or advice.
  • The link to another story involving a sexual act implies that the author may have already ventured into extramarital experiences or is strongly considering it.

Short Story

Changes

The right person could really rock my fantasy world

I met my partner Jack, at university. We hit it off immediately. After graduation, we married; church ceremony. It seemed the natural thing to do. Our parents were so happy for us and looking forward to having grandchildren. Ten years have passed; no kids but we are still the best of friends — and that’s the problem. There isn’t any spark or chemistry between us. Don’t get me wrong, we love and care for each other greatly, but when it comes to getting down and dirty it just doesn’t seem to work for us any more. Things appeared fine at the start but, looking back I think we were both young, attractive and didn’t know any better. The sex was comfortable, but never created fireworks for me, and I doubt it ever has for Jack either.
