If you want to improve the quality of your life, improve your habits. It’s what we do on a daily basis that determines our future. That’s why habits are the central theme of life. Follow good habits and you will be successful. Follow bad habits and you will struggle in life.

If you feel like you don’t have good habits and you want to start developing good habits, then look no further than these 3 habits:

  1. Sleep 8 hours a night
  2. Exercise 4–5 times a week
  3. Eat healthily

Believe me, these 3 habits can change your life. I am saying this from a personal experience. They are simple habits but following them, every day is the hard part.

I will explain these habits in more detail and give my tips on how to follow them every day.

1. Sleep 8 hours a night

This is a must. Your body is entitled to sleep 8 hours a night. Don’t think like you can sleep for 6 hours a day and do more work by saving 2 hours. It’s not about how many hours you work, it’s about productivity.

When you sleep 8 hours a day, your body feels good and your energy level is high. You can concentrate on work for longer hours if your body is well- rested.

If you want to start with one good habit, I would say this is the best out of 3.

Tip: It’s also important when you sleep. If you think you can sleep any time for 8 hours during the night, you are wrong. If you sleep from 1 AM to 9 AM, then the quality of your sleep will deteriorate. Sleep between 10 AM to 11 AM and wake up between 6 AM to 7 AM. If you sleep early and wake up early, the quality of your sleep will be incredible.

2. Exercise 4–5 times a week

I can’t stress this enough but you need exercise to feel healthy and energetic throughout the day. Exercise makes you feel good about yourself.

When you exercise, you feel tired at night and that improves the quality of your sleep. Exercise and sleep go hand in hand. If you exercise regularly, you have to sleep 8 hours a night to allow your body to get recovered.

You should do a combination of strength and aerobic exercises. Lifting weights makes and stronger and builds muscle mass which improves your metabolism. On the other hand, you need aerobic exercises to improve your stamina.

Tip: Pick a time to do exercise during the day and stick to it. I exercise in the morning before work because mornings are quiet and I have more time in the morning. Pick whatever time is convenient for you. Also, I go to the gym 3 times a week and run 3 times a week. That’s how I keep a balance between strength and aerobic exercises.

3. Eat Healthily

You need healthy food for your body to keep working. You can’t eat crap and expect to feel good. I have felt a massive shift in my energy when I started eating better.

These are the changes I made in my diet:

  1. Eat a high-protein breakfast. If you do that, you will feel less hungry during the day and consume less food.
  2. Cut out sugar from your diet. Sugar is cancer and dangerous to your health. I am not saying to not eat sugar ever but don’t consume it daily. I occasionally eat desserts when I go out but I don’t eat sugar products daily.
  3. Avoid consuming alcohol during weekdays because it affects your sleep.
  4. Start eating more vegetables.
  5. Do not eat snacks. Avoid them at all costs. They kill your apatite.
