Change is scary: maybe that’s why it is needed.

So I opened up a bank account yesterday, not just any account but a business bank account. Why? Because I am embarking on a completely new adventure. One that I have no map for!

For the last 10+ years, my job title has been ‘nurse’. It’s so simple to answer that little (sometimes really annoying question) “what do you do?” Recently, however, I have found myself at a crossroads. In November of last year, I returned from living abroad for two years. Between covid and valuable life lessons, I soon realised that life would not be the same.

Often when our worlds turn upside down, it is too hard to try and fit back into the box of our old lives. This has been where I am at, not wanting to return to the world of health care but not sure what other interests and qualifications transfer to paid employment.

So, at the end of June, I will be taking a leave of absence to start working as a freelance writer. Do I have enough skills or experience? We will soon find out. Is there a chance that this idea could fail? Absolutely.
