Change Is Inevitable; So Why Do We Resist It So Often?

The unknown is a mystery.

“Butterflies can’t see their wings. They can’t see how truly beautiful they are, but everyone else can. People are like that as well.”

-Unknown

Every moment that passes is a new experience just waiting to be embraced and noticed. Why do we crave the same old things? What do we miss out on in life because of this behavior?

Is it our insecurities that keep us stuck? Could our confidence level have something to do with the way we approach new things?

Of course, our confidence plays a role in embracing change or in our willingness to try new things.

What if we could admire ourselves as others do? Confidence is an inside job. If we lack confidence, we must look within.

Inner being

How can we begin to nurture our inner person? How does someone become beautiful on the inside as well as on the outside?

I received a lovely compliment from another writer the other day. She said that I am beautiful inside and out. It made me think about the above quote. Thank you, Upasana Sharma; you are also beautiful inside and out.

Others see us for who we are, not for who we wish we were. Our personal goals can sometimes squash our confidence. Maybe we need to stop being so hard on ourselves.

It’s okay if you didn’t quite hit your target. If something isn’t working to boost your confidence, then change is inevitable. You must spread your wings and try again.

Embracing Change

Letting go of the past and trusting in the future will lead you there. We are creatures of habit, which leads us to do the same old things.

To embrace change, we must be willing to give up on the what-ifs. We must be willing to look at fear and the uncertainties of life head-on.

Without embracing change, people will miss out on fulfilling their dreams and live a complacent lifestyle. This behavior leaves them unfulfilled and longing for more.

Receiving more

How can we open the floodgates for more to enter our lives? We must change our attitude about failure.

Of course, it’s normal to feel some anxiety or fear when the road ahead is unclear, but we must not let that stop us. Here are a few helpful approaches:

  • Thinking outside the box will not be easy, but that is what change is all about. Perhaps start slow. Try a new veggie this week. Maybe add a different topping to your pizza. Or even try another brand of pizza altogether. Even small changes can lead you to bigger ones.
  • Learning a new skill is another meaningful change. It’s one way to bring more into your life. Do you have a hobby that you loved as a kid? Or even as a young adult, but it’s crammed in a closet collecting dust? Are you willing to dust it off and get started? Or try something completely different.
  • Becoming more adaptive doesn’t only help you, but it’s encouraging to those in your field of influence. Being adaptive takes a shift in your mindset. Being mindful and giving up the attitude of how we have always done it must be quieted so new ways can emerge.

There are no true endings

Only new beginnings will lead you to incredible growth; if allowed.

There is so much more meaning to life than just surviving. If you could only see how beautiful your wings are, you would be astonished.

The possibilities of every new day are remarkably full of gifts.

Would you please stop and look in your internal mirror while stopping to smell the flowers along a new path today? You are beautiful inside and out.
