I will start with the fact that I’m a huge fangirl of Chat GPT 4, pretty much since I was introduced to it. Early adopter and subscriber here, and let me tell you, it’s what allowed me to create the website that I have today for the children’s book I launched back in November of 2023. Yikes its already been 4 months!

Web design isn’t exactly my jam, but I dabble, and with the help of Open AI, Canva Pro, and Mailer Lite I was able to piece together the semblance of a semi coherent (albeit my personal best at the time) author website with all the basics. — I’m more of a research and strategize kind of person, given my day job as an Analyst and Marketing Manager. Needless to say, the first go around had me in HTM-Hell and took way longer than anticipated.

The Must-Haves and the Wish List: Setting Up My Digital Presence

As I was wrapping up “Under One Sky” and its creative companion book, “Under One Sky: Coloring and Activity Book,” I knew there were “need to haves” and “want to haves”. A solid online presence? Need to have. Despite desiring a personalized domain (see “want to haves”), the budget was tight, and I found solace in trying my hand using MailerLite — a free email marketing, website and landing page platform. My current website does the job, but its lacking in many ways.

Now, 4 months after a very modest book launch, I have decided on a total website and social presence optimization with a focus on brand consistency, traffic conversion on the website, increased sales with Amazon KDP and any merchandise related to my pen name Kristal Glimmers.

Facing the Current Challenges: A Glimpse into My Site’s Woes

SEO’s a no-go, the color palette’s meh, layout quirks abound, and my emails are lonely without sign-ups. Not to mention, the merch isn’t flying off the virtual shelves. In marketing speak that means I need help!

I’m pondering, with a site that’s currently less glimmer and more… let’s say… goblin, what’s a creator to do? That’s when I turned to Chat GPT 4, the most level-headed, drama-free advisor I could ask for.
