Park, oh how you save my day, When my family comes to visit and say, “Show us New York City, it’s so grand!” And I try not to scream, “I live in Manhattan, it’s not Disneyland!”
But Central Park, you come to my rescue, with your sprawling greens and stunning views, your winding paths and peaceful lakes, where I can show off New York without any fakes.
We start at the Great Lawn, where they say, “Wow!” As we lay down a blanket and relax for a while, and watch the locals play frisbee and ball, while the city’s skyline towers so tall.
Next up is the Bethesda Fountain, a true gem, where the water cascades and sparkles like a gem, and musicians serenade with strings and brass, as we snap a few photos and let out a gasp.
We head towards the Upper East Side, where the Central Park Zoo is our guide, and we marvel at the penguins and bears, while the kids can’t stop giggling and stares.
The Alice in Wonderland statue is next in line, a whimsical sight that never fails to shine, and we imagine we’re in a storybook land, where everything is magical and oh so grand.
Central Park, you are the best, when it comes to showing off the city at its crest, and making my family feel like they’re a part, of the New York experience with all their heart.
