Celebrating the Wobble

For me, a sad/happy day

I have mentioned it countless times but I am an extremely solar human. I’m like a plant. Without sunshine I wither and shrivel. So it stands to reason that the day with the least amount of sunshine in the Northern Hemisphere would be a very sad day for me. When I think about that fact I am indeed saddened but I try not to focus on that. For me, the winter solstice has become a very happy moment.

For one thing, the days will now be getting longer with more sunshine each day. How can that fact not fill anyone with joy? Why bitch about reaching the bottom of the sunshine abyss when we are now headed back up instead of continuing to head down? We’ve been sinking into the darkness for a long time but now we’re heading back towards the light. Now that is something to celebrate!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if our dear planet did not wobble? If there were no seasons and the weather was the same 365 days a year? Would that be boring, or what?

The moment of the winter solstice and the moment of the summer solstice are most assuredly the two most powerful moments of the entire solar year. They are moments when the planet pauses between direction. If the planet pauses for two moments a year shouldn’t we pause, too? And shouldn’t we change direction, too?

One thing I like about the winter solstice is the Rejuvenation Window which opens up the moment of the solstice and lasts for fourteen days. Those two weeks are the best time of the year to implement change and re-script our lives. New Year’s Day happens to fall during the Rejuvenation Window but it is not the very best time to make resolutions. The best time is on the winter solstice.

This year the Rejuvenation Window will be much more powerful than usual because there is a solar eclipse that occurs during it — on December 25–26 (which also happens to be the time of the new moon). New moons and solar eclipses are all about change; about releasing the past and moving into a better future; about dropping old paradigms and adopting new ones. Yes siree Bob, this Rejuvenation Window is going to be a doozy.

Our beloved Mother Nature has given me an early Christmas present. On the Great Plains of Turtle Island today we are expected to have abundant sunshine and unseasonably warm temperatures. Everyone knows what that means, right? Picnic!

Yes, I will be celebrating today. And also meditating and affirming new intentions while oozing gratitude. What a great way to spend the day and since the moment of the solstice occurs today everything I do will be magnified drastically. I am so happy. I can practically feel the mojo crackling in the air. I hope everyone else can feel it, too.
