PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE
Celebrating the Essentials
Third Week of June
What is essential is invisible to the eye. Only with the heart can you see rightly. ― Antoine de St. Exupery
Monday
My week started out with a trip to my patio container garden. I had been away for a week. Luckily, Mother Earth tended each and every plant perfectly while I was gone. I was really looking forward to harvesting my sugar snap peas!
Needless to say, they are all gone now. They were magnificent. I am so grateful for the seeds, the sun, the soil, and the water that made this harvest possible. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Tuesday
The next day I took a walk at the park. All the years I have been going to this park, I never noticed the mulberry tree. The shades of ripening mulberries made me think of maturity, growth, ages, and stages.
What a great find. There were tons of them. I am not sure what the laws are about eating from the public land and trees but, I trust you won’t tell! I ate my share.

Wednesday
I was glad I had been eating healthy snacks the days leading up to my doctor’s appointment. I was rewarded with this beautiful rose right outside his office. It appeared to be waving thin silky arms at me from its center while shouting out with joy.

Thursday
My goddaughter was one of the seniors that missed all of the happenings of the senior year except for an outdoor graduation ceremony. It was also her eighteenth birthday four days after graduation. Celebrations are essential.

Friday
This was my last check on the garden before I hit the road again (technically the friendly skies).
The water on a leaf caught my eye. To drip or not to drip? That is the question. The properties of water in action, filling me with wonder. How can we know how essential water is, yet we don’t conserve or protect it enough? Are these Mother Earth’s tears?

Saturday
I ended my evening with a beautiful sunset as my flight landed in Alabama. I am so glad I opened the window shade to take this in. The twinkles of civilization below reminded me of the fireflies I chased as a child. The view looked like a watercolor painting. This reminded me that just like the paint on a watercolor canvas, everything in life can be washed away. Every moment is ours to embrace with peace in our hearts.

Sunday
This little critter was my welcome to Alabama. Actually, the critter was gone. This is just an exoskeleton left behind. Believe me, if it was alive, I wouldn’t have had this much time for a photoshoot. I would have been making my way in another direction. It was an interesting encounter nonetheless.
What a find. And, what a symbol of the past year and a half. Now that I am Vaccination allowed me to take two trips and now I am on the road for a month. I have left the shell that kept me safe through the worst of the pandemic and I am spreading my wings.

Monday
The next morning, a more proper welcome. Coffee and fresh-cut flowers! My sister found these yellow flowers broken off the stem while she walked her dog around the yard — what great timing and what a great save.
My sister is a great hostess. She has always reminded me that as we rush through life, we have to remember to take time to smell the flowers and celebrate the essentials.

Thanks for reading! I hope everyone finds everything that is essential to their happiness and celebrates it!
This is a fun challenge. I was picking just one photo and topic per day and that was an extra challenge for me because I take so many random photos every day-my moments of awe overfloweth. I hope everyone has a great week!
