Caught In The Act

Be in no doubt, plagiarism IS theft

This morning I noticed one of my fellow editors had caught a thief with his hand in the till. Let's not beat about the bush here, plagiarism is theft. It is stealing intellectual property from its rightful owner and trying to gain from it financially by pedalling it as your own. And you know the most dumbass thing about it, the trail leads right back to you the thief!

Of course, there are a number of reasons why people turn to this crime, for make no bones about it, that is what it is. It could be a lack of ability to write something of your own or just plain old laziness. It matters not, the fact is it is the lowest and dumbest thing you can do. It is like walking into somebody's house in broad daylight, for all to see, and stealing their television set. Then, like the dumbass that you are, you take that TV set to the nearest second hand shop, a place where the owner has access to systems that reveal who the real owner of that tv is. So now what are you going to do?

Well, pretty soon you realise all the second hand shops are tooled up with the same systems of detection. So, being an idiot, you just dump that tv in the rubbish. There you go, all in a good days work huh, dummy.

I suppose the plagiarist reckons he or she is too smart to be caught, or the potential buyer is too thick to check what you are trying to sell. Perhaps the plagiarist just doesn't give a damn about being caught.

Here at Illumination we not only have systems for checking suspicious looking articles, we also have a team of plagiarism experts and believe me, nothing gets past these guys. They can sniff out a truffle six feet under the ground. So think on if you can, all you are doing is wasting time, your own as well as that of others. In the end, you will be found out and chucked out and never be allowed to return.

As a lucrative alternative, you could try to write something original and engaging. Do this and you can earn good money here over as long a period of time as you wish. What's more, you can build a career which will gain you personal fulfilment and respect. What's not to like about that? And believe it or not, this is the easiest way to make money here. It's a damn sight smarter than plastering your own name all over what is clearly stolen goods and being caught in the act. Time to wise up guys n gals, whoever you are.
