Cats Get My Creative Juices Flowing

I like feeding strays, building a bond, and taking photos of them

Taking cat photos is my creative passion.

To take a good cat photo you have to build trust with a cat for them to feel comfortable enough with you and that isn’t always easy with a stray cat.

Sometimes, it takes time to build that trust with a stray.

I feed strays, so I’ve built a bond with the cats in the photos (see below). As you can see in the photos they give love back the love I show to them.

Just in a different way than dogs : )

We have more than just a feeding relationship. They are my fur friends and they like to hang out at my home or one joins my son and me on night walks.

Here’s Scotty (who died in a car accident). He liked to come in my car while I write. He was my favorite cat. I liked to hug him because he was a male cat.

This is Clover who likes to sit on my lap on our patio while I’m writing. Scotty and Clover were a neighbors’ indoor cats before she passed away.

Breakfast with Clover and Fuzz. Food distraction is a key to a good photo.

My son took this one. You can see he has built a good trust with Clover too.

Feed a cat and walk away. This is the key to building trust with a stray cat. Fuzz as you can see was still very much in the building trust stage in this photo.

Now Fuzz lays on his back and lets me rub his belly at the park.

Thanks for letting me share my passion for cat photos with you. I hope you enjoyed them.

Thanks to Trista for this week’s “Creative Encouragement” prompt to share how we are playing around and being creative in our lives.

Here’s one of my favorite quotes on creativity from Erwin McManis in his book The Artisan Soul:

To create is to be human.

To create is to reflect the image of God.

So, who is an artist?

Anyone who has a soul.

Here is one more of my favorite creativity quotes. This one is by Steve Pressfield, the author of The War of Art, describing how he defeats Resistance on a daily basis that seeks to discourage him from being creative:

“I put my ass where my heart wants to be and then I plunge in.”

Hope these quotes get your creative juices flowing … just put your ass where your heart wants to be (your preferred form of creativity) and plunge in.
