Cats Communicate Via Telepathy

Scientists may disagree, but I have proof!

I hope I wasn’t thinking anything bad — photo by Katemiya (author)

We’ve all seen the cat stare. Have we really thought about what’s behind it? Sure, lots of scientists and vets claim they know. I am convinced, however, the stare is their telepathic conversation face. Are you scoffing at the very notion that cats talk via their thoughts? You just haven’t thought about how much sense that makes.

There was this one time where Zak was staring outside the patio door, as is his want. I noticed a cat outside on the patio, staring back. The glass door wasn’t open. Zak wasn’t making any noises. Then I happened to look to my right. On that side of my patio, there were two other cats also hanging out and doing the stare. The second they saw me, they took off. What reason could they have to bolt at the sight of me? Maybe they were talking about me in their minds and assumed I too communicate that way. After all, what is the point of just staring at each other for extended periods when sniffing options don’t exist? There isn’t; that’s the point!

Cats stare at us, too. They know we are terrible at communicating with our thoughts, just as we are sure they don’t understand the language we speak. Duh, they just lack the vocal capability to do speak our language. This is why they vocalize to us. They hope we can at least understand their attempts to communicate with their mouths like humans.

What about cat calls and the annoying wails of cats in heat? Isn’t it hard for you to be heard from a distance in a loud audience? Think of all the thoughts of living things cats have to be heard over to know exactly where the lonely cat is. There are plenty of times Zak acknowledges I am terrible to think at, so he does his best to help me. What he doesn’t quite seem to get, or chooses to pretend he doesn’t, is that I may understand exactly what he’s trying to tell me and choosing to ignore him. I don’t care how adorably he goes about it, he ain’t getting his treats (aka Greenies Hairball Control) before his scheduled times.

One of the best pieces of evidence I have to the telepathic communication method between cats happened a few decades ago. I lived in this apartment building that was designed almost like townhomes. Each building had six units and three floors. My cat Furrball would often make a run for it when I opened the door. Every time he broke loose, he ran straight past two buildings and up the stairs to an upstairs apartment. A couple times he actually was pawing at the front door when I caught him. Thankfully no one ever answered because that would’ve been a weird conversation.

He wasn’t ever exposed to outside with my permission. Windows weren’t opened. He didn’t even speak, despite me hearing his capability to make noises when hunting bugs that rudely snuck in. Yet the very first time he broke out of the apartment, he immediately went straight for that one particular apartment. WHY? My theory is he heard the thoughts of that apartment’s kitty resident and wanted to hang out. Got a better explanation?

Back to Zak. There are times, particularly when it is cold, where I will lie in bed thinking how awesome it would be if he showed up to snuggle with me in the bed. He rarely sleeps with me at night. He will deliver healing snuggles if I take a nap or go to bed unusually early because he worries about me. We also have an understanding that if he cries for me when I am trying to sleep and don’t wanna get up, he is getting put in the bed so he STFU. He can leave provided he stops whining for me to get up. But I digress. I will give him his good night brushing in the living room and go to bed. He usually hangs out in there initially. Yet when I think hard about how much I want his healing purr and snuggles, within ten minutes or so he shows up. Not every time, just like I don’t drop everything to play with him every time he asks me to.

Remember this the next time you’re in the company of a cat. When they are staring at you, they are thinking at you. Watch your thoughts because they are listening to those too.
