Weeds & Wildflowers September Writing Prompt
Catching Up but Still Behind
Progress in baby steps

My summer was a medical blur — hospital visits, doctor appointments, labs, caregivers — stressful, scary and exhausting. But, now that September is here and summer is tiptoeing towards the door, life is settling down a little. Ben is doing better, his medical appointments are less frequent, and life has the flavor of normalcy — almost.
Right now, two of Ben’s daughters are visiting from New Jersey and spoiling us with delicious home-cooked meals. Since Ben left the hospital in July, I’ve spent many hours in the kitchen preparing meals to entice his appetite, so I don’t mind turning over the cooking duties to his daughters. And I am grateful they are being so helpful.
The photo above from Ivy Shepherd (Thank you, Ivy!) is our new Weeds & Wildflower banner for September. I thought the orangey color of rose was perfect for welcoming fall into the half of the world that’s leaving summer behind.
Thank you, Jane Frost (Jane Grows Garden Rooms), for allowing us to view your bird photo for the month of August, and thank you to all the Weeds & Wildflowers who participated in the August writing prompt of Books!
Remember that W&W prompts have no due dates and no expiration dates. Feel free to respond to any prompt at any time, and always use Writing Prompt Response as one of your tags.
As my life begins to resemble some form of normal, I am cautiously beginning to make plans that are outside the medical realm. I think we all look forward to making plans as a new season arrives, whether those plans are related to our gardens or other activities.
There is something exciting and hopeful about each new season.
So, for our September prompt:
What are you looking forward to this month?
What activities are you planning for the weeks ahead? Maybe something special like a trip? Maybe something homey like fall gardening? Maybe a quiet month of reading and walking? For me, next week will involve my handyman doing some small renovations at our home, jobs that were delayed from the summer when Ben was hospitalized. I am looking forward to a few changes to freshen up our home.
I look forward to reading what you are looking forward to in the month of September or in the season of autumn.
As always, I am grateful for each one of you and for your understanding about my lack of involvement this summer.
Happy September, Weeds & Wildflowers!
