Summary

The website content outlines the author's exploration into the concept of "Digital Space Affordances" through the creation of a Career API Canvas, transitioning from writing on Medium to diagramming on Miro for better ideation and visualization.

Abstract

The author has been developing the idea of Career Themes and a Career API, initially drafting with diagrams and placeholder text on Medium before transitioning to Miro for a more visual and flexible ideation process. On June 11, the author created a draft that led to an idea board on Miro titled "Curativity Theory for Personal Innovation," which supports the author's "Diagramming as Thinking" approach more effectively than Medium's editor. The author intends to publish the draft as a public research page on "Digital Space Affordances," drawing inspiration from Ecological Psychologist James J. Gibson's Affordance Theory. The content also hints at future articles on Medium and touches upon the potential of empty digital spaces like Miro boards or blank Medium pages to facilitate innovation and personal development.

Opinions

  • The author values the use of visual aids and diagrams in the thinking and ideation process, finding Miro's board more conducive to this work than

Career API Canvas (This Draft is for Testing “Digital Space Affordances”)

Career Themes and Career API

On June 11, I created this draft with several diagrams and some “monkey-type” texts for placeholders. However, I stopped writing on Medium and moved to Miro.

The outcome is an idea board: Curativity Theory for Personal Innovation.

It’s clear that I was Thinking, not Writing. Miro’s board is better for supporting my Diagramming as Thinking work than Medium’s editor.

I’ll write some new articles on Medium. However, I’d like to keep this draft and publish it as a public page for my research on “Digital Space Affordances”.

What can we do with an empty digital space such as a Miro board or a blank page on Medium?

The concept of “Digital Space Affordances” is inspired by Ecological Psychologist James J. Gibson’s Affordance Theory. You can find my previous articles about Affordance here and here.
