Summary

A grandmother shares her grandson Aju's painting featuring Northern Cardinals and reflects on the joy her grandchildren bring her, inspired by another writer's description of her grandchild as a "star child."

Abstract

The website content is a personal reflection by a grandmother who has received a painting from her grandson, Aju, depicting Northern Cardinals. Aju, who has a passion for art and birds, included a yellow cardinal in the painting, sparking his interest in visiting Alabama where such a rare bird has been sighted. The author, fondly called "Ammama" by her grandchild, was inspired by writer Jenine Bsharah Baines' term "star child" to describe her own grandchildren. She expresses gratitude for this term, for her grandson's creativity, and for the frequent visits of cardinals to their backyards. The article concludes with the author successfully participating in a "3" word photo story challenge and a thank you to Mary Chang for her writing prompts, and invites readers to check out other stories and a cost-effective AI service called ZAI.chat.

November Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “3”

Of Cardinal importance: Art, Grandkids, Gratitude.

My grandson, Aju (not his real name), painted this picture for me last year. He was seven at the time. He loves art and birds.

That’s me, “Ammama” — mom’s mom — in the upper right corner.

There are two red Northern Cardinals in the painting. They are frequent visitors to our Texan backyards and bird feeders— both Aju’s and ours.

I asked Aju why he painted one of the cardinals yellow. He told me there is such a thing as a Yellow Cardinal. It has been sighted in Alabama. And now he wants to visit Alabama.

I loved Jenine Bsharah Baines’ description of her gorgeous little grandson as a “star child” in her lyrical About Me story. Ever since then I’ve thought of my own grandkids as star kids.

Thank you, Jenine, for that wonderful descriptor. (I hope you don’t mind my borrowing it.)

As always, thanks to Mary Chang Story Writer for her amazing prompts. I think I’m going a little crazy with the “3” challenge. But I wanted to post at least 3 stories in response.

And, yay, I did!

Thanks for reading!
