In this Minute of Truth, I share my thoughts about the steppingstone approach to sharing a message.

Getting from one side of a river to the other is greatly aided by the presence of stones in the water that provide you with someplace solid to place your feet. Of course, it’s also important to remember that in order to step onto the second stone, you must initially find your footing on the first stone. Try to jump to the third and you’ll end up in the drink.

It’s the same thing with messages you may want to deliver. To bring a listener along with you on the journey from start to finish, leave a few mental steppingstones along the way where others can find a connection with your message. If they’re interested in understanding and appreciating what you’re saying, this strategy will really help them get your point.
