Can You Live Without Love?

Think carefully about this one.

In the circle of our life we need to feel loved as well as express the quality of love to others. From birth to death the different aspects of love are an integral part of our human exchange.

What happens early on in a child’s life if they are deprived of a parental love, including touch? What bearing does love have on us throughout our life?

BABIES AND CHILDREN

Orphaned children clearly show what happens when babies and children are deprived of one or two parents at early stages of their life. Without human touch and a loving connection physically, mentally, or emotionally, the negative impacts are harsh. According to the article, Lasting Impact of Neglect, some of the problems stemming from such deprivation are problems coping with emotions, social withdrawal, low self-esteem, tantrums, self-punishment, poor intellectual functioning, and low academic achievement.

Who doesn’t want to feel loved? Endless stories and poems are written about failed relationships when one person didn’t feel loved, or both of them stopped loving each other, or they felt love never existed in their relationship.

Although serious depression for many people is a result of a chemical imbalance, for others not feeling loved may be a huge factor in their struggle for happiness.

Also, we live in a society that tends to cast the elderly aside. Many aged ones live alone with little or no family members to care for them. Can you imagine living out your life, then in the “not so golden years” feeling lonely and unloved?

BACK TO MY QUESTION…CAN YOU LIVE WITHOUT LOVE?

There are many facets to love. As human beings we can exist but not thrive without love. When people feel loved they enjoy living each day. People that feel loved also express love. Wonderfully, the cycle of love then continues.

ANOTHER ASPECT

There is one aspect of this though that needs to be said. Although feeling loved is important throughout our entire life, everyone is the recipient of another love not always considered. What is that?

You have been given a beautiful earth that was made to sustain and enjoy your life. The water cycle, abundance and variety of foods, various animal life, luminaries to light our sky, a human body that is a miracle, and the ability to see in color all are an expression of the Creator’s love (whether you appreciate it or not).

I would say, especially where I live in the United States, it is a cake walk with restrictions compared to Singapore!
