At the E! People’s Choice Awards, Giuliana Rancic asked Tiffany Haddish ‘How are you?’ to which she responded ‘I am successful, how are you?’ I actually did a double-take and watched the video again – okay I watched it like four times but that’s not the point. I was like wow! Sis owned her moment like a boss. I was so inspired. It was such an empowering uplifting moment.

You see, it is easy to see men go all out and get to their pinnacle of success and own their moment without question. No matter a man’s attitude or behavior, his success is never judged or questioned. Men do not have to explain their presence in the room or prove that they are deserving of a place at the table.

I think it is about time we normalise female success as it has come to stay

However, when a woman works and rises to a place of success she is judged not just by men but by fellow women. Her motives, marital status, fidelity, attitude, dress sense, parenting technique, and so many other things begin to be called into question.

I think it is about time we normalize female success as it has come to stay. Let’s celebrate all the sistas doing great things – mothers, business moguls, entrepreneurs, artists, musicians, writers, teachers, doctors, nurses, activists, and so on. Let’s celebrate them all.

Thank you Tiffany Haddish for owning your moment and representing all sistas like a queen.

You go girl and the short do looks good on you too!
