There is power in exposing your vulnerabilities.

There is usefulness in exposing your vulnerabilities.

We all have weaknesses, they’re pretty standard. However, what we decide to do with them either assists us along our journey or inhibits our journey. Being very prideful, embracing my insecurities has always been particularly difficult.

Showing them to others wasn’t even an option.

I was afraid that their perception of me would change, or even worse, they would abandon me. My view on vulnerabilities was so incredibly skewed and in an effort to protect myself, I was only widening the gap between my true self and the outward image I portrayed.

In hiding my weak points, I was successfully hiding what made me, me.

This can cause a huge disconnect in your growth because without an honest evaluation of your current state of being, how can you craft a plan of action for your future?

Exposing your shortcomings can be frightening and even painful but in failing to do so, you’ll find yourself in places you don’t belong because you gave life to a false persona.

Being forthcoming with your insecurities can serve as a natural filter that saves you time.

Whether entering a new relationship or starting a new job, being honest about who you are will save everyone a great deal of trouble.

Those around you develop a better sense of what expectations to hold you by. This way, you don’t find yourself in uncomfortable positions or leave others blindsided and questioning if they did something wrong.

Being honest about your weak points allows others to form a more complete picture of who you are. They derive a better understanding of your boundaries, how to serve you, and how you would be able to serve them.

Being upfront about who you are will serve as a natural filter because those who can handle the real you will stick around. Those who cannot leave.

It prevents the likelihood of investing months of time and energy only to find out that you’re not happy and what you believed to be true, was just a facade.

Coming to this realization after it’s too late can be very troubling and emotionally taxing. Even worse, you may stay in the predicament solely because of how much you have invested.

Exposing your shortcomings can be frightening and even painful but in failing to do so, you’ll find yourself in places you don’t belong because you gave life to a false persona.

It’s empowering to finally get them off your chest. In acknowledging where you fall short, you can give it the care and attention it needs.

If you’re aiming to improve upon your weaknesses, acknowledging their presence is key.

This also helps to build a deeper connection with those around you. Relationships thrive when vulnerability is involved. With acquaintances, maybe coworkers, it can still be useful in addressing your shortcomings because you’re clearing the air. Any further manipulation or crude remarks have little basis because you have already owned your faults.

It hurts more when the insecurity is hidden or masked.

It forces you to take the blows in silence and leave your wounds unattended.

This only serves to deepen the insecurity and increase our resentment towards it.

In this state, you feel small, triggered, and miserable. Transitioning this into a state of empowerment only takes one step: embracing your insecurities.
