Can Living Alone Be As Miserable As It Seems

Well, you can never say until you have tried it for yourself.

I have been living alone from the last 6 years now and I can proudly say that I love living alone and having my personal space.

Living alone is not everyone’s cup of tea but you can always give it a try because there will be a moment in your life where you will have to live alone and figure out your own ways.

Maybe it was easier for me to adapt to living solo because I was very young when I first started, but this is something that is totally achievable at any age, but just requires the correct mindset and being able to find and creating your own comfort level and space.

Often I have come across people who are afraid of living on their own, and one thing that always strikes me is, how can they not enjoy the freedom of their own space?

Well, that freedom is something that you realise the worth of once you’ve had the hang of it. Whether you are experiencing it for the first time while leaving for college or moving to another city for your new job or venture, it requires a little bit of adjustment.

The thing with living in the same place for years is that you get very comfortable, comfortable in the sense that your personal development stops due to the lack of exposure. So, in my opinion, it’s always good to be open to the idea of shifting and changing places until you are in the mood to get settled down.

When you are at a young age, shifting places can make you very productive and allow your mind to expand and be open to change and challenges of the real world.

Usually, people in their early 20s and young adults are not looking to settle down, they are making their platter of life by living and learning from each and every new experience, so why not give life a chance to be able to choose the direction that they truly desire.

There are a few things that I would have never been able to accomplish if I wasn’t able to dare to live on my own.

The Feeling Of Being Independent

One thing that anyone can feel right away by living on their own is how independent they become, it starts with being able to do their daily chores and one day ends up on being able to provide for themselves completely and sufficiently.

Life after high school teaches you the real meaning of being independent, as it is not about being able to take your own decisions and being answerable to your own self for, “my life and my rules”, but it is about being able to make sane decisions about the real things involving your way of living like managing funds, finance, bills, looking after your own safety and much more.

The transition between being a dependent teenager and a stand-alone young adult is what teaches you the real meaning of being independent.

The Openness And Acceptance

Living alone can really make one, open-minded and allows much more acceptance as the world is full of diversity.

When you are all alone in a strange city or a country, as a matter of fact, the only immediate people that you know are a stranger. A stranger that may help you or a stranger that may give you the toughest time of your life. But that’s all you have got, a bunch of strangers in a strange and a new city.

So what can you do in times as such, you start communicating, making like-minded friends and start identifying people in your surrounding. One thing that I have learned is that, how a stranger in a strange city can teach you the strangest things of your life.

It might be random, it might be helpful, it might be lame or it might be useful, but everyone has something to offer. Now it’s up to you which things do you gravitate towards.

The way different minds and different people influence your way of thinking and help you grow is very random yet very important. So allow yourself to expand and be open to change.

Helps You Add Structure

Once you are comfortable with living by yourself, it becomes pretty easy to carry out your life in a routine manner. Your day starts consisting of things that you want to do or get done and helps you prioritise.

Living alone surely helps you find the perfect structure for your work and personal life as it gets easier to focus on yourself and on your personal space.

The Definition Of Self-Sufficiency

If there’s one thing that really teaches you how to solve your own problems is being able to live alone.

Soon you will realise when there’s no one by your side all the time, you start being more attentive and clever about the things happening in your surroundings.

Better instincts, awareness and recognition starts flowing in as you are on your own and looking out for oneself.

The real meaning of feeling full is when you realise how much important it is to pay attention to oneself and be happy within yourself, with your accomplishments, your goals and your doings.

Conclusion

There are a million things that you will learn as soon as you start appreciating and living with yourself that no one can describe you better than experiencing it for yourself.

So don’t be afraid of letting go and giving life a new start as you never know what potentials it unlocks for you in your future.

Change is scary but it is important for everyone to evolve with time and make the best out of the things that they already know and inculcate things that they lack behind in, moving out of your comfort zone isn’t the most helping human trait but it is something that everyone has to do at some point in their lives.

Home is where you create your comfort zone, it is where you find and resonate with the surroundings and the people that you are happy with, so no matter wherever you go it is your duty to make sure your shelter a place you call home.
