20-DAY POETRY CHALLENGE
Can I Call Myself A Writer?
A poetry prompt for day 11

“Good writing comes from dedicated reading. Building a healthy habit of reading anything — ingests broader ideas; the greater you’ll absorb, the further you’ll discover, and the more you perceive, the better you can write about anything.” — Josh Balerite Acol
I’ve been in love with ‘READING’ ever since I was a kid I didn’t realize till I became an adult I still am more and deeply attached to it
dammit, I got married had kids — been bitter and husbandless
in real-time, am striving to become better to be the best mom ever
finally found out my one and only love remains — ‘READING’ which inspires me more to be the writer I have become…
I have learned that in order for you to be able to write, you should devote more time reading, and this I refer to anything — be it a bad, a good old one, a classic, or one written by an amateur or a proficient penner. It is only by reading a vast amount, that you’ll know how to write better, aside from the experiences you have had in the past.
To my dearest friend Sahil Patel, this free-verse poetry is for the 11th day of the 20-day poetry challenge. I do hope this fulfills your prompt, “can I call myself a writer?”. Thank you so much for the tag. This is one of the best things that wipe my weariness after a hard day’s work — writing.
This piece is in gratefulness for the warmhearted support of my poetic friends who are with me in this poetry goal — my dear Bhav Bhavna Narula, dear Geetika Sethi, Ntathu Allen, Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她), dear doc Dr. Fatima Imam, and my dear doc Dr. Preeti Singh.
Thanks so much for reading. Stay well ever.
