Can Humour Help Us to Stay Young?

Exploring the possibility of using humour in the right way

In my honest opinion, humour seems to work magic in our lives. I do find people who are humorous looking younger most of the time.

I guess the reason is that humour diffuses much stress in our lives. When we can eliminate some stress in our lives, we live healthier lives and maybe look younger!

If you believe that, it is time to check how we can use humour to our advantage. For myself, this is what I often do:

1. Laugh often

Instead of being frustrated by any event that does not turn out well, I try to laugh it out. Associate with people with a good sense of humour will guarantee you a laughing time whenever you interact. It may seem insignificant and silly, but laughter is an excellent medicine to diffuse stress.

2. Practice self-deprecating humour

Self-deprecating humour is a good form of humour that makes fun of yourself. Sometimes, if you poke fun at someone, it may be insensitive and rude. But making fun of ourselves will not offend anyone else as long as we do not mind.
