Can Humans Achieve Immortality?
I think so
Most people are afraid to die, right? That’s why so much money is into medical research.
Immortality was a distant dream about a century ago but now it’s quite possible.
The 20th century saw remarkable discoveries in the field of medicine such that we can now cure most diseases. These discoveries have brought hope to achieve immortality one day.
Let’s just think about why we die.
We die because our hearts stop pumping.
And our heart stops pumping due to some technical glitch. By technical glitch, I mean diseases, accidents, and old age.
Let’s look at all the technical glitches one by one.
For diseases, we have medicines. We can cure almost all diseases and significant research has been devoted to finding a cure for cancer and HIV. I believe that medicine will find solutions to these diseases within a century based on the way we are progressing.
For accidents, it’s hard to control them. Still, we are trying to make everything automated using artificial intelligence. It’s possible that the number of accidents will go down when all vehicles become automated.
For old age, we still need to find this solution but it’s not far away. We can replace our arms and legs with robotic arms and legs. Then we don’t need to worry about them because they won’t decay with time.
Humans can make artificial organs in the future (most probably). Once you replace the natural organs with artificial ones, you don’t need to worry about old age anymore.
The artificial body parts won’t decay with time compared to natural organs. If your body parts are not going bad, you can live as long as you want.
Is not that crazy?
Just thinking about it blows my mind. This is not just a crazy dream, it could become reality within a couple of centuries.
If you think I am talking nonsense, that’s fine. Most people still believe that achieving immortality is impossible.
They are not wrong. It’s still impossible but the way we advancing, it’s hard to rule out this possibility.
Let me know what your views are on immortality.
