What is the Klearance Cannabis Collection?

KCC is a haven for novice, proficient, and accomplished writers to have a home for those stories that don't seem to fit elsewhere in Medium. I envision KCC as an eclectic collection of stories written by various writers.

What kind of stories does KCC accept?

I am looking for stories covering a wide range of topics and interests. Have you ever shopped at Goodwill, Dirt Cheap, TJ Maxx, and Half Price Books? These stores sell whatever they can get and resell to the public.

What's the background story of the Klearance Cannabis Collection?

Last summer, I took a road trip in my Mobile Isolation Unit, aka automobile, to New Mexico and Colorado. I visited Trinidad, Colorado. While I was there, the city was doing road construction and had detours on significant streets. My hotel was on Sante Fe Trail (Yes, that Santa Fe Trail). To get downtown, I had to turn off SFT. The turn was one block north of a shop called Clearance Cannabis.

Every time I passed it, I started laughing. I thought and still do that had to be the funniest name for a marijuana dispensary.

Since KCC is a collection of stories to make folks feel good, I decided to name my publication after this shop. I am mindful of trademark names, so I've called my journal Klearance Cannabis Collection, not Clearance or Clarence.

My Literary Credentials

I want to think I'm literate in the English language. I feel that Grammarly and I can get the job done.

How well do you need to write?

You need to be able to write so that your readers understand what you are saying. Proper English spelling, American or the Queen's English, is preferred. Several of my favorite Medium writers misspell words, use poor grammar, and have other noticeable mechanical errors, yet can communicate.

What can you expect of me as the Editor?

I will not be editing your writing. If I understand what you are saying and the content meets Medium guidelines for acceptable content, I'll publish it. Typos, misspellings, and other errors are yours to own.

I will process your story as quickly as I can. I have many interests, and it may take a day or two for me to get to your story. If I take longer than you think I should, please feel free to withdraw your article from KCC. There will be no ill feelings from me. I understand your desire to let your creativity shine in the sun.

Must stories be unpublished?

No. You can submit something already published, but the Medium computer will put newer stories in the publication listing ahead of older ones.

Can it be something that was turned down by another publication?

Yes, of course, it can. It is probably a diamond in the rough seeking its chance to glisten in the light.

How do I become a writer/editor for KCC?

When you have a story you would like to place into the Klearance Cannabis Collection, add a comment to this article saying, "I have a story to submit." I'll add you as a writer. You can then submit your story. I'll briefly review it and publish it upon its acceptance. After submitting your first story, I'll change your status to Editor. Then you can post on your schedule. The maximum number of editors Medium currently allows is 30. KCC has fifteen (15) writers/editors at this time. (rev. 5/3/22)
