The narrator meticulously prepares the house, learning to cook, cleaning, and grooming themselves to create a welcoming environment. These preparations are not just for the comfort of the partner but also to strengthen the bond of love and the sense of home. Despite the underlying sentiment that the partner might not deserve such warmth, the narrator is steadfast in their affection, acknowledging that their partner already has a loving home with them, beyond the physical structure of a house.

Call Me Home

I put your toothbrush on charge because I know you will come home,

I learn how to cook so I can gracefully open the door,

I make the bed and sweep the floors, so you will like how this house is shown,

I brush my hair and put lipstick on, so you will love me more,

I try to give you something more than a roof and four walls, so you’ll call me home.

The truth is, you already have a home,

even though you deserve no more than a small dorm room,

you already have a home sweet home.
