We are the only one-stop Medium publication for everything Japan: culture, language, travel, or anything else that’s interesting and authentic.

We publish mainly in English but also accept pieces in Japanese.

What makes us different?

We are more than just another Medium publication.

Our mission: To create a one-stop place for everyone and anyone to learn more about Japan, and to create a global community of writers and readers who love to read and write about Japan and Japanese culture.

Through this project, we want to connect Japan and the world.

Our origin and where we want to go

In early 2022, DC Palter and Yuko Tamura came together to create Japonica.

I am very honored to be joining the editorial team.

As we are growing, we are looking for writers in all kinds of genres — travel, language, culture, tradition, business, history, current affairs, and whatever is interesting or true.

The one thing that ties all our stories together is the common theme of Japan.

There is no other publication quite like it.

Are you a writer and/or an expert on some aspect of Japan?

If you are a Japan expert, you will find a home for your articles in Japonica. We publish anything related to Japan, as long as it’s relevant, interesting, and true.
