Call for Submissions: Halloween Headquarters at The DIY Diaries

An invitation to share your seasonal ideas and inspirations

It’s September as I write this, which can only mean it’s time to start planning for Halloween. I hope that you’ll consider reflecting on some of your new plans and old favorites by writing about them to share with the readers of The DIY Diaries.

Now the title of this post says Halloween, but we welcome stories about all sorts of seasonal celebrations, decorations, recipes, activities, and more.

Ideas to share with kids are welcome, too. I bet a lot of readers would love to know about some ways to save money and create unique experiences by making our own costumes, gifts, and treats. Or how have you found ways to celebrate over the last few years given the constraints of covid?

At this point, I have to confess to you that I’m the lady who gives out pencils to trick-or-treaters, but I want you to know that I also give out candy. I understand that sometimes you need a little chocolate boost when you sit down with a new Frankenstein pencil and start to write a poem.

So let’s get into the celebratory, sharing mood. As I mentioned to Medium’s queen of Halloween, Daniella Montage, nobody should have to choose between pumpkin spice and apple cinnamon. It’s all welcome here: sweet or sour, scary or cute.

As usual, we’ll still be accepting submissions on other DIY topics of your choice, outside of the Halloween theme. And you’re still welcome to submit to our other calls for submissions on responding creatively to rising food prices and the invention challenge.
