Bye Bye Betty White
I feel robbed. Why did I think she would live forever?

I, like so many others I’m sure, was totally shocked to hear about the passing of Betty White…just short of her 100th birthday.
I have to ask myself “Why? Why did I think she would live forever?”
Simply, because she was a national treasure that never retired from the public eye.
She always seemed happy and smiled frequently.
She will forever be my Golden Girl. Not to mention the show is a favorite of my adult daughter. No generational gap there!
But her career was so much more before and even after the Golden Girls. My favorites among her works also include the Mary Tyler Moore Show.
Her illustrious entertainment career spanned radio, television sitcoms, game shows, commercials, and more.
There was a 2018 documentary that dubbed her as “The First Lady of Television”.
One of her TV skits that readily stand out in my memory was when she did her top 10 list on Dave Letterman’s Late Night Show for living a long and healthy life.
Her humor came through as soon as she started with tip number 10 tip: “Get at least 8 hours of beauty sleep, 9 if you’re ugly”.
Then a younger generation got to find out about the humor of Betty White when she was tackled in a football game in a Snickers SuperBowl commercial that went viral.
At the magical age of eighty-eight, she became the oldest host on SNL (Saturday Night Live),
She never remarried after losing her third husband, Allen Ludden, to stomach cancer in 1981. According to television reports, Ms. White’s last spoken word was “Allen”. How befittingly sweet.

When asked who her crush was, without fail, she always said ‘Robert Redford’. The two of them never got to meet in person.
Mrs. White was an advocate of the LGBTQ+ Community and a passionate animal rights advocate.
There are different calls to action circulating on the internet to donate $5 to a local Rescue or Animal sanctuary in your area on her 100th birthday (January 17th) in honor of her advocacy.
Rest in peaceful slumber Betty White. Bye Bye.
