Buying Matching Underwear Rocked Our Sex Life
They’re helping me look better and feel more confident

Even though my husband and I are elder Millennials, we don’t sign up to a lot of subscription boxes.
My razors and his beard oil come from the Dollar Shave Club, but that’s it.
We’ve never cooked anything from Hello Fresh. Neither of us are the right audience for Loot Crate. And I wanted to come up with a third example of a subscription box we don’t use, but I can’t think of any, which kind of proves my point.
But we took the plunge and decided to subscribe to a second subscription service. No, not because we’re trying to hold onto our Millennial credentials, but it’s because things have been heating up between us lately. We’ve been flirting more, fucking more, and having hotter sex.
So, it only made sense that we start thinking more seriously about what kind of underwear we put on every day.
After checking out some options, we decided to subscribe to MeUndies and receive a matching pair of underwear in the mail.
That matching underwear is doing more than just covering up our bits. It’s been making us look and feel a whole lot sexier, too.
Male Lingerie — Is That a Thing?
Women have endless options when it comes to lingerie. We get to choose from skimpy costumes, frilly stuff, sheer and satin numbers, and barely-there outfits that somehow make you feel more naked than not wearing anything at all.
But for men, the options are more limited, especially if we don’t count a suit and tie. The only safe options are boxers or boxer briefs, and the only safe colors are black or grey.
Black boxer briefs can be sexy, but I prefer something bolder. Underwear with fun patterns and bright colors look great on a man. If nothing else, it shows he’s playful and fun, and playful and fun is a real turn on for me.
Now, Mr. Austin is fun, in and out of the bedroom, but you could never tell by looking at the clothes he wears. He’s never been comfortable taking risks when it comes to dressing up. Any time he considered wearing something to make himself more attractive, it just made him feel silly.
Lucky for me, he always consults me when he wants to make a stylistic change. So, one perk of being his wife is that I get a vote in customizing his looks. He grew a beard when he found out that I have a thing for them. He traded his band t-shirts for button-down shirts when he saw what the guys I found appealing wore.
But through all the changes, the black boxer briefs remained.
And they remained until we happened to be discussing men’s underwear and I let him know my real preference. He vowed to buy something fun to cover his junk.
When we came across a subscription service that offered matching sets of underwear in fun prints, we signed up and after a couple of weeks we each received underpants decked out in pictures of melting ice cream cones and ice cream bars.
I wasn’t planning for us to necessarily wear the matching ones on the same night. But we were so eager to try them that we ended up in bed together wearing the same pattern on the first night we received them.
Sexy and Confident
I honestly had no idea how much I was missing out on. I should have made Mr. Austin ditch the black boxer briefs sooner.
I love the way he looks decked out in a bright, fun pattern. And I didn’t expect them to be as well-constructed as they are. All the boxer briefs he used to own did the job of covering him up. But these ones do more — they accentuate his package and make it look very appealing.
And the bold pattern also gave me a bold husband. When he wears them, he stands proud, like he’s on display and loves it. He’s got that lingerie confidence and it shows.
It’s the kind of attitude he could never have if he stuck to the safe options.
And you know what? I look damn cute in mine, too. I feel sexier just wearing them even when I’m not showing them off, like I have a flirty little secret.
(It didn’t hurt that Mr. Austin also made a winking reference to wanting a lick of my ice cream.)
So there we were, both feeling really hot and extra confident. Unsurprisingly, the sex was amazing.
And it was all thanks to our matching underwear.
The New Lingerie
There’s something I never liked much about lingerie. I loved the idea of dressing sexy for a partner. I loved the idea of showing off what you’ve got. But anytime I looked at lingerie the options all seemed so serious.
And that matched my impression of the way sex used to be depicted. The sheer lace and fishnet numbers on display in sex shops looked like they belonged in front of a soft-focus lens, not in a giddy, sweaty romp.
Sex seems to be treated a little more casually these days, and I think that’s an amazing thing. We’re sending nudes to people we like, posting our tits on Reddit, and openly debating the merits of dick pics.
We treat sex like it’s not just pleasurable and enjoyable, but downright fun. Our idea of sexy includes plenty of giggling, blushing, and teasing.
And that’s why we need lingerie that doesn’t take itself too seriously. We need something that fits us well but is also just flirty, kind of funny, and super adorkable.
We need eye candy that’s as bright and cheerful as actual candy.
I’m embracing the idea that silly can be sexy. And now, I’ve got the underwear to prove it.
