Summary

A 40-year-old man, referred to as Bully-Brat, causes a disturbance in a restaurant by ignoring rules, throwing a tantrum, and behaving inappropriately, leading to his eventual ejection.

Abstract

The incident involves a 40-year-old individual who enters a restaurant and disregards the reserved status of a table by tossing the "Reserved" sign into a booth. Despite attempts by the hostess to rectify the situation, the man continues to act disruptively, leading to a confrontation with the manager. The man's behavior escalates to the point where he is asked to leave the establishment. Additionally, when his cell phone is left behind, his wife accuses the staff of attempting to steal it, further exemplifying the couple's contentious behavior. The article reflects on the immaturity of the couple and questions whether the man is capable of holding a job or if he is a resident of a retirement community, which would require a minimum age of 50.

Opinions

  • The author perceives the man's behavior as childish and unacceptable for someone his age.
  • The man's actions are portrayed as entitled, believing that rules do not apply to him.
  • The hostess is depicted as professional and patient in her attempts to handle the situation.
  • The manager is seen as assertive in enforcing the restaurant's policies.
  • The wife's reaction to the cell phone incident is viewed as aggressive and unfounded, suggesting a shared attitude with her husband.
  • The author expresses skepticism about the man's maturity and ability to function responsibly in society or employment.
  • There is a hint of irony in the author's hope that the man does not live in The Villages, a retirement community, due to his apparent lack of maturity.

Bully-Brat Throws Tantrum In Restaurant

Rules apply to everyone but him!

Arrival

Bully-Brat saunters into the restaurant/bar, ignoring the hostess. There were plenty of empty tables, but he went to the one tall table, picked up the “Reserved” sign and threw it into the empty booth next to it. It went into the seat next to the wall where it may never be found. He then left.

I retrieved the sign and gave it to the hostess. She put it back onto the table. It was the only reserved table in the restaurant!

He returned with his party, picked up the sign and flipped it into the booth again. This time, it landed on the table.

The hostess walked by a couple of minutes later, picked up the sign, and put it on the table while he was sitting there. He then placed the sign on the shelf next to the table. At least he quit throwing things.

Service

The hostess notifies the server when a new party has been seated and is ready for service. Nobody was notified of Bully-Brat’s table, so nobody was assigned.

He throws a tantrum. Either the manager noticed, or he demanded to see the manager. We were not close enough to hear.

A heated discussion ensued when he was told that the table was reserved and he would have to sit somewhere else. He kept shouting. The manager finally told him to get out of the restaurant.

Cell Phone

He left his cell phone on the table! The standard procedure was to give the cell phone to the hostess to keep in the hostess stand. Then, the owner can call their cell phone number. The hostess would answer and tell the owner where it was.

As she was carrying the cell phone out to the hostess stand, Bully-Brat’s wife came up, cursed the manager, called her names, and accused her of trying to steal the phone.

Of course, they gave her the phone.

Conclusion

Evidently, both the husband and wife behaved the same. He threw a tantrum like a 6-year-old, and she wasn’t much better.

I wonder if he still gets an allowance from his father because he sure isn’t mature enough to hold a job.

I hope he doesn’t live in The Villages, a retirement community with a 50 age minimum.
