Summary

The website content provides an analysis of Taste D. Flabb's hit song "My Hog," discussing its unexpected rise to fame, its unique blend of musical genres, and its controversial lyrics.

Abstract

Initially underestimated by a record executive, the song "My Hog" by Taste D. Flabb became an international sensation after being remixed by The Cuz Collective. The article delves into the song's complex evolution, its impact on pop music, and the broader implications for the English language and societal norms. The lyrics, which include repetitive and provocative phrases, are scrutinized for their deeper meaning, touching on themes of delusion, persecution, and societal institutions. The song's chorus, with its explicit and demeaning language, is particularly highlighted, along with an instrumental accordion solo. The article concludes by labeling the song as a critique of late-stage pop music and the concept of liberatory incarceration.

Opinions

  • The song "My Hog" is described as a fusion of psycho rap and post-cowpunk, suggesting a novel and unconventional musical style.
  • The lyrics are seen as a "searing indictment" of the current state of pop music, implying a strong critical stance against mainstream musical trends.
  • The use of language in the song is considered to be both unnecessary and an affront to the English language, indicating a negative view of the song's lyrical content.
  • The song's popularity is attributed to a remix by The Cuz Collective, a group that seems to resonate with the troubled themes of the song.
  • The article implies that the song's success is surprising and perhaps ironic, given its initial dismissal by industry professionals.

Bulldogging My Hog

Ryan Klemek dared people to annotate the lyrics of either of Taste D. Flabb’s international mega-hits. After extensive listening, re-listening, therapy, and prescribed (not to me) medication, I have sunk to the challenge.

Background

Initially dismissed by a record company executive as, “Brutally unnecessary, with a potential audience of one troubled man in Weymouth,” Flabb’s second single, My Hog, was remixed by The Cuz Collective, a troubled man from Weymouth, who turned it into the psycho rap/post-cowpunk fusion hit you know and chant before vomiting in the street.

Lyrics

Rev, rev, rev, rev, rev

Rev, rev, rev, rev, rev

Reverse, converse, perverse, disperse, universe

Reimburse, student nurse, intersperse, nonsense verse,

Revelate, consecrate, understate, animate

Reinstate, [hesitate?], captivate, cogitate

Cogitate, cogitate, cogitate, find a mate

Revolution, constitution, light pollution, execution

[Chorus]

Climb on to my hog, bitch, and rev my motor

Curl your fingers round the knob, bitch, and rev my motor

Emergent, resurgent, complex evolution

Life spent in an institution

Revolted by my own delusions

Of revisited persecution

Revolving resolution

Prosecution for prostitution

Absolution for contributions

To revenue and distribution

[accordion solo]

Climb on to my hog, bitch, and rev my motor

Curl your fingers round the knob, bitch, and rev my motor

My hog, my hog, you lovely lady dog

My hog, my hog, you lovely lady dog

My hog, my hog, you lovely lady dog

[repeat to fade]

Analysis

Brutally unnecessary, this is nevertheless a searing indictment of late-stage ‘pop’ music, liberatory incarceration, and the English language in general.
