Building Your Foundation: 3 Ways to Use this Time to Build Up Your Life

At this time, it feels like the foundation of our lives and our routines has been shaken. Our world now is now different from it was 3 weeks ago. We are going through an emotional process of rebuilding our foundation. I believe this time is an opportunity to evaluate and prioritize what really matters to us while rebuilding our foundation through learning and growing in new ways.
As a professional organizer I used to work with clients in their homes. I am also able to work with them remotely. However, it has been a rebuilding process to let clients know that I can work with them from a distance and that it is effective. How has your work changed over the last 3 weeks? If you are finding that you need to start anew, it can be a disheartening at times. You need to almost reinvent yourself and the way that you do things. This may seem difficult, but it is an opportunity to explore your life. To explore how to build your life up block by block and create something new that may not have occurred to you before. Not only is it important to explore the things in your home, but also to explore your feelings and your health. All three of those are part of your foundation.
Here are 3 ways you can use this uncertain time in our history to grow yourself as a person:
- Go through all of those projects you have lying around the house. Make a list of them. Prioritize them. Which ones really sound fun to you? Which ones are ones you feel you can let go of now? It’s so important to pay attention to how you feel around these things. Do you feel good energy around them, do you feel like doing these projects, or are they creating more of a heavy feeling of guilt for you?
- Pay attention to how you feel about your day. Do you need to rest more? Do you need to get outside more? Listen in to your body, see how you feel. This is an opportunity to build up your health and well being. At this time when the earth has pressed the pause button, I encourage you to do the same. Listen in, see what you feel. Take the time to rest more, to enjoy the outdoors more, to feel the sun more.
- Look at what input you are allowing in your space. Are the programs and social media you are paying attention to fear based, are they overly violent? Sometimes we are drawn to these things because it is hard to look away. However, this has a lasting effect on our focus and our well being. What we focus on and pay attention to expands. In that way, if we can focus on the good, and on what is working for us and how we can help others, that will bring more good to us.
Which of these speaks most to you? How are you going to start building your foundation? The quality of the input and the things around us are like our building bricks. It all matters. Now is the time to focus in on those and declutter the ones that no longer serve us in our lives so that we can get through this time stronger than ever.
With lots of love,
Trista
