Britney Griner, A WNBA Basketball Star was busted by Russian Customs Officials. She had gotten off a plane at a terminal outside of Moscow. A dog detected Drugs. A search of her luggage found vape cartridges containing Hashish oil.

Have you ever watched a Documentary about Russian Prisons? I have, and they’re not anywhere a person wants to be. The U.S Constitution and the Bill of Rights do not follow Americans when they leave the country.

Her timing is rotten

Of course, we have to keep in mind the current state of World Affairs as well. I’m sure Putin and his Oligarch buddies popped open the champagne when they heard the news.

They now have a high-profile hostage. In the past, celebrities could get away with dumb stunts like this. Rock and Pop stars like Paul McCartney, Carlos Santana, and Dionne Warwick, to name a few.

She will not get a pass

They might have spent a few days in jail, but they were able to soon get out and resume their careers. I doubt that Britney Griner will be so fortunate.

Where did common sense go? Don’t people think before they act? Did Britney Griner consider the consequences at all? A person might get past a human Customs Agent, but it’s very difficult getting past a Dope sniffing dog.

Actions have consequences, think of the people you will hurt

Whenever something like this happens, I always wonder. “ Why didn’t they think of their families? Actions have consequences. Britney has a wife, and I’m sure she’s worried sick about the whole thing. I also wonder about her career, She has risked her freedom and her livelihood for a good buzz.

People need to think about the consequences of their actions. People also need to remember that the laws and freedoms of the United States do not follow them overseas.

The Thug has another weapon

Putin isn’t a good person. He’s not pre-disposed to treat Americans with compassion in the current climate. I worry about Britney’s safety in a harsh Russian Prison.

All Countries are different. different people, and different values and mores. Travelers need to keep that in mind when they visit foreign countries.

Pray for her safety

The timing is unfortunate. Britney Griner will languish in a Russian Prison. She will get lost in the shuffle as the world deals with the madness Putin unleashed.

I pray for her and the other Americans held in Russian Prisons. I hope they get home soon and safe and sound.

Final Thought:

People need to think, use logic and reason, and stop thinking about pleasure all the time. Chasing a high just leads to trouble.
