Bringing My Spirit to the Light:

I am no longer hiding my soul,

It belongs in the light,

I must share my true spirit.

I am no longer hiding my heart,

It belongs out in the sun,

I must speak my truth.

I am no longer hiding my thoughts,

They belong here on paper,

I must write for all to see.

I am no longer hiding my true self,

She belongs out there in the world,

I must show my inner beauty.

This poem is one I wrote just before writing a letter on paper, by hand, to my family. I needed to speak my truth to them. I had to tell them that I am on a spiritual journey and that I am an empath.

It felt so good to get these words out on paper. It is pure joy and it is therapy all at once. For so many years I read self-help books, personal development books, and spiritual books. I was seeking myself.

I do not come from a family that has spiritual practices. It is out of the scope of what I grew up with. However, I feel that what is in my heart needs to come out into the light. Today was that day. I feel free!
