Content marketing makes it very doable to create a highly qualified list community. You can bring in the most qualified members ready to buy when you ask.
Now, the really cool thing about content marketing and list building is list building is one of the components of content marketing. It’s one of what I call the 7 power pillars of content marketing.
In this article I’m going to show you in five easy steps how to create a highly qualified list community. This is a community that are ready to buy when you ask, because you’ve taken such great care of them.
So let’s look at these five simple steps
Step One is creating helpful content. This could be a Medium article that’s 400 to 500 words. It could be a blog post, it could be a LinkedIn update, it could be a number of things. When you create helpful content, you create at least one good chunk of usable information that allows people to take action.
Now, the great thing about list building with content marketing is you’re allowed 400 to 500 words where people get to see how you approach problems and how you solve problems. By the time you reach step two, which is a prospect pulling CTA or Call To Action, they want more from you.
So, it’s not like you’re banging them over the head, “hey go here and make $1M by noon.” No, they’re wanting to know more from you, and when you invite them to click on a link in a Call To Action to get more information from you they’ve already been thinking,
“Hey, I want more information, how do I get it?
Step Two is a prospect building Call To Action. This is where you invite your reader and prospect to get more good information from you in exchange for their email address.

Step Three is you are now sending them to an opt in page, where they enter their name and e-mail address to get more great information from you. That needs to be the only choice on that page. Not to sign up for anything else, not to visit anywhere else, just one choice, opt in, get more great information from you.
Now, most people that get this far stop after creating helpful content, a prospect building call to action, and then an opt in page. Most people don’t ever get this far. But, those that do stop. Don’t be most people. Most people are broke. Take these next two steps.
The next 2 steps
Step four is great follow-up. Follow up with the people that join your list community. You do this both automatically through auto responders, and through automatic follow-up. You give them more great information, helping them use that information. You also follow up with broadcast e-mail, with inviting them to podcasts, webinars, and live casts. That great follow-up will make a long-term difference, because folks, your future and your fortune are in the follow-up.
And then lastly, step five. Take great care of your list community. When you do that, when you take great care of your list community, they will take great care of you. They will grow to know, like, and trust you, and desire more information from you.
So, when you offer it, they will be very interested in buying your resources, learning more from you, getting more access to you. That will be an easy thing for you to do when you take great care of your list community.
