Brighter Than The Stars
A short poem
Background
Let me tell you a short background story to that poem. As I wrote in my “About Me” story, a few years after my 18th birthday I moved in with my narcissistic ex-boyfriend. Many privacy issues, he controlled me and hurt me on different levels. Start reading about that time here if you like. After I finally left him some time later, I was so happy for a while. There were some ups and downs afterward, I found and lost new love and moved on. Many years later, I got married, and we settled down in a small town. There were a lot of problems right from the beginning, it didn’t work out. Sometime later, I met someone by chance who changed my life very quickly and positively. Read here about my favorite person. He inspired me to start writing poems and I got so many ideas by just thinking about him!
When we first met in person, it was in a special place abroad. I also wrote a poem about it:
We could only meet for about an hour. Time passed so quickly and at the same time it seemed as if it stopped. I knew that I had fallen in love. That he was the one. From the first moment. I thought he was great before, when we only knew each other from work online only and from chatting privately. It was already clear to me that he would play a big role in my life. At our personal meeting, I was completely overwhelmed.
At the time, we were both on vacation abroad in the same country. In the evening we wrote again, like always. I explained to him how to recognize the North Star. ⭐ Whenever I look up at the sky in the evening or at night, I look for it. I feel even closer to my special person then. We are both looking at the same sky, at the same North Star. Until we can be together soon. ❤

Shining brighter than the stars
You’re the light that guides me home
In the dark of night
You’re my hope, you’re my love
And you’re all that I need
When life feels like it’s falling apart
You’re the one that makes me feel whole
And I know that I’m not alone
When I’m standing in the embrace of your love
I know that I’m not alone
You’re my light in the dark
And I know that you’ll never leave me alone
I’m shining brighter than the stars
With your love by my side
I know that I’ll never be alone
