Breadcrumbs of the Future
An ode to the science fiction of today and the science of tomorrow
In dream’s eye I have seen heroines come and monsters crawl from the Earth’s core to bowels of closet doors, spaceships plagued by Alien foe to deepest ocean nightmares go O! those technological frights and endless hypothetical virtual plights.
I have witnessed the impossible in galaxies afar distant travelers burning suns and blackhole wars cosmic refugees come and go, looking out of window ports through the death grip of space’s violent trill and unforgiving seas.
They have voyaged with tattered clothes empty pockets bones frail from antigrav trails trust in nations fateful stacked I have seen a place Solaris in double stars elliptical berth empires of hundred, planets collapsed.
Athwart of Milky Way’s belly to Andromeda starboard, they have made a new home among these ancient stars I watched as gunslingers saved bounty hunters ensnared as magic became science as the light in darkness became our ways New hope emerged to guide the fateful to better days
I watched revolutions come and go while dark ages ensued and the scientific utopians stand true forever to mend, desperate hearts Totalitarian eyes, watching gave no escape and in viruses, that provided no relief.
I have peered as alien machines, large and vast burned worlds to ash only succumb to bacterial scum and to the moon, we made it to find, hidden, apocryphal bases and talismanic power limitations.
I listened as freedom prevailed centuries shared utopians proved veracious amongst evil methods none For real power lies In truth, justice, and will of the heart.
For though I have seen clocks Tick away so fast In it, I peered into evolution’s great hands Those myths never changed survival as a constant of every being For I have peered across the bay Robots and men, aliens and AI Together as they gave hope to cosmic dawn making peace and harmony beyond within Asmovian laws
O! my eye was clear When I saw machines conquer planets even space and time, tattered fabric, bent and worn to travel the vast expanse wormholes as roads the gravitational highway to lands and destinies afloat
I even saw, when a scientist’s mad twitching fingers, eyes alight a new Promethean might From galvanized blood and chemical mind
And I have watched this all Not in a wizards glass Or a hallucinogenic visions of an ancient sage test I have seen it splattered
With ink and stitched with words upon the page The wonders of the neocortex flame Imagination reaching it’s infinite skies.
For they have shown us What if’s and what not to do’s They have given us trajectories to take dark passages to seal our fate.
But sometimes the unknown is the only way to progress to grow beyond tomorrow’s sunset To a world that sits waiting for us waiting to take those first steps upon an alien ground.
To follow, breadcrumbs of tomorrow that leads us to, a future land
now found.
