Here’s a Published Author Asking You to Make Him Better

As a writer, I mean. He’s not looking for a constipation cure, but if you want to talk about it, he’s all ears.

I have the honour of being an editor in the ILLUMINATION family of publications, and recently I’ve been super excited to be part of the ILLUMINATION Book Chapters team.

I read a lot of stories, and the ones I’m reading on IBC are extra good. Mostly because they come from published authors, and are often entire published books presented chapter by chapter.

Phil Truman is a published author on Amazon. With a website: PhilTruman.com. And a following on Goodreads, where he offers you a free book. Take it. It’s good.

I’m a total nut for Route 66 and Oklahoma. I pull into the parking lot at that big blue whale in Catoosa or the big red barn in Arcadia, and I have a smile as wide as the Will Rogers Highway.

So my own ears pricked up when I began reading his stuff. A good storyteller, witty, generous, and an Oklahoman. From Miami, no less, where they never get tired of telling people how it’s pronounced.

Phil has just begun publishing a new story, and it’s a ripper. Tell him I said that, and then tell him he can make it better. And tell him how.

Yes, Phil is looking for advice on making a good story better. How often does John Grisham or Stephen King ask you that, eh?

Here’s your chance. Head over to the first chapter and follow along, leaving notes and comments as you go.

Seriously. Phil is looking for beta-readers before he wraps it up and publishes it as an actual book. Every book has a rough spot or two, and the author is the absolute worst at spotting these spots, because they know what they meant to write, and not what they actually wrote.

Here’s what he says:

Author’s note: The chapters presented here in ILLUMINATION Book Chapters are from the second novel in my Legends of Tsalagee mystery series. The release date hasn’t been set, but I expect it will be late summer, early fall 2021. In the meantime, I’m looking for beta readers. If interested, please visit my website and contact me via email for more information.

You want to do good and help out a good man? Here’s your chance. He might even shoot a free story your way.

Phil Truman. Ripper writer. Tell him I sent you and he’ll smile at me as well.

Note. This is a story about an author, and authors are notorious self-promoters. Click on the links in this story, and you have a very good chance of winding up on a mailing list or subscribing to a blog or writing a review or buying something through an affiliate link. It’s all good, but you have been warned. If you aren’t an author already, become one. It’s a great lurk because people follow your links and love you.

Note. I made up that stuff about his health and wanting advice. So far as I know, Phil is in excellent shape and he is bound for glory.
