Christmas is just around the corner — how is that possible already?!

It’s a prime opportunity for small businesses to engage customers, boost their sales, and of course, spread a little festive joy.

But how can you make the most of this period without adding too much to your workload?

Here are 5 easy ways to promote your business in December:

1. Irresistible festive offers

Grab your audience’s attention with exclusive Christmas promotions and discounts. Try bundling products or services together for the holidays, or offer limited-time deals that end before Santa arrives.

2. Deck the halls

This is an obvious one, but make sure to infuse a little Christmas spirit into your physical space with festive decorations. At the same time, update your online presence — ie. your website and social media profiles — with Christmas-themed imagery.

For instance, I add a little Santa hat to my business logo every year — it’s simple but effective.

3. Launch a Christmas campaign

Start a fun Christmas marketing campaign that compliments your brand. Try sharing a themed post every day on your digital channels to keep your audience coming back to your profiles throughout the month.

Remember to be authentic and share only what’s unique to your brand, otherwise you’ll get lost in a sea of sameness.

4. Create gift guides

Make the gift-buying process more straightforward for your customers by offering curated gift checklists, or by creating guides for your local area (such as places to eat nearby, if you run an accommodation).

It’s a great way to draw attention to your products or support other businesses in your region.

Make sure to tag them so they can share your guide with their followers and boost your brand reach!

5. Host events (online and in real life)

Do you have a special skill, or know someone else who does? Why not share it with your audience in a virtual workshop or invite people to an exclusive in-person event?

It’s a great way to strengthen your audience’s connection with your brand and sow a little festive spirit ahead of Christmas.

Make the most of it

Don’t miss the chance this holiday season to keep your brand at the forefront of your audience’s attention.

Keep busy in the run-up to the Christmas break, especially while fellow businesses start to wind down.

You can schedule posts in advance of the murky what-day-is-it-anyway period between Christmas and New Year’s, allowing you to get some rest while your brand awareness remains stable.

And of course, keep fun and togetherness at the forefront of your festive strategy!

What Christmassy marketing methods have you used in the past?

Are you planning anything new for this year?
