Books on bookshelves — L Burton

Bookshelves in the Study

Book Shelfie: Freestyle

My overflowing books are controlled chaos.

Ever since I was little, bookshelves have dominated my rooms. I had built-in bookshelves that my dad made for me when we moved to the house I grew up in. I quickly filled them with all kinds of books and art supplies.

When my older brothers moved out, I got one of their rooms and newer bookshelves filled with even more books.

Currently, I have three full-size bookshelves, an A-frame bookshelf, and an old microwave cart-turned-bookshelf, all in the study.

In my bedroom, I have a rolling book cart (like the pretty ones you see on Instagram) that’s also overflowing with books.

The top left of the shelves in the study feature the husband’s non-fiction reads. The rest are mine, most of which are unread at this point. Of the ones that have been read — some psychological suspense, cozy mysteries, romance, young adult — they’re in alphabetical order by author, so I can find them easier.

I probably have about two years’ worth of Owlcrate books, all YA, that I still need to read. They aren’t in any order. I receive one or two new books monthly from that subscription box, and they get set aside in boxes. I think tackling those might be another reading challenge for me in the near future.

It would be fun to see what my shelves look like in another year.

Thanks to Ellie Jacobson for the inspiration.
