Books for people who do not like reading
Trust me these books will make you fall in love with reading( if you already haven’t)

I think fiction is the best genre to start off your reading habit because let's be honest here, no non-reader can start off by reading 110 ways to be productive!
I have been a born book enthusiast. All of my birthday presents have consisted of books ( which got thicker as I aged) and that’s because I had asked my parents to gift me books. My friends and cousins, on the other hand, considered me weird and my love for books bizarre, that was until I introduced them to the land of literature.
- A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini

This book is set in war-torn Afghanistan and gives narratives of the lives of three generations of women, all of whom are forced to bend down and accept the harsh behavior of the other sex upon them. The book starts off with Mariam’s perspective ( who then, is a nine-year-old kid) whose life revolves around learning the Quran and anxiously waiting for her father’s weekly visits. Tagged as Haram, Mariam and her mother live on the outskirts of the city of Herat(had been sent to live). Mariam constantly craves her father’s attention and just wants him to spend more time with her. Hosseini’s introduction of Mariam’s life makes you want to hug the character and wipe out all her fear. After her mother’s suicide, Mariam comes face to face with the lack of warmth in her father’s love and is married off at a mere age of 15 to a man who is ten years older than her named Rasheed.
Laila, the other narrator of the story, is a teenager whose parents just died in a bomb blast(right in front of her eyes), and the fact that her male best friend(with who she was in love) moves to a different land to escape the fiery state of Afghanistan. Rasheed marries Laila because that is her only choice for survival. Read the book to witness the two wives' amusing chemistry!
This book makes you cry a whole lot! Even if you think of yourself as cold-hearted emo, you won’t be able to control your tears here.
2) Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

Again a book by Hosseini that makes you cry. I think, by now, this should be printed as a disclaimer on all his books. Similar to the previous book, this book is also set in war-torn Afghanistan and is destined to make you bawl your eyes out!
This is the story of Amir and Hassan, the best of friends, the type of friends that you could mistake as brothers. Torn between pleasing his father and staying loyal to his best friend, Amir, chooses the former and ends up betraying Hassan by not standing up with him. Also, did I mention Hassan was Amir’s house help’s son? This betrayal haunts Amir for the rest of his life, even after he flees to America to escape the war looming over Afghan soil. In order to seek redemption and find a chance to get forgive by his best friend, he decided to go back to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, only to find life-changing secrets. Amir takes it upon him to make all sacrifices possible to give long-awaited justice to Hassan. The most shocking aspect of Amir’s revisiting Afghanistan was seeing the people who wronged Hassan take control of the place- they were now a part of the Taliban!
This story never seems to stay still and is always chaotic- which is also why it is a good read for a new reader. The best thing about this book is the ending-where it seems that the happy part has now arrived but yet, is miles away.
3) Looking for Alaska by John Green

Looking for Alaska is the story of Miles ‘Pudge’ Halter- a lonely teenager who is obsessed with famous people’s last words. Pudge, in order to seek the “greater perhaps” goes off to his father’s alma mater- Culver Creek Boarding School. It is evident that he just wanted some happenings in his life and thus he left his life full of boredom back home( typical teenager). Pudge meets his roommate “the colonel” ( Chip Martin) who introduces him to the world of Culver Creek- where boarding students have to hate the rich kids, also called the “Weekday Warriors” and a whole ton of meaningless rituals.
Pudge finds an amazing friend group in Colonel, Alaska( strong-headed feminist), and the chill, laidback guy Takumi. Oh, also Pudge loves Alaska! All’s well until an incident happens which makes Pudge question his sincerity as a friend and as a person, he fails to save his friend and now everything’s gone
Green describes love as it is in real life, not like some cute, mushy virtuality and this is why his books hardly get the ending readers want. This book can be a bit disappointing due to the ending, but nevertheless, you will love it!
These are some amazing book recommendation posts that you will love-
