I love books. I don’t mean I love reading them, although I do. I love the books themselves. I love the feel, the smell of fresh paper and binding, the sound of riffling pages…

This is why, when people recommend taking notes by writing in a book, I recoil in horror. Deface the sacrosanct page? Never!

Fortunately, someone has heard our wailing and gnashing of teeth, and has come up with a solution. Translucent sticky notes.

Yes, they’re just like regular sticky notes that you write memos on, but you can see through them.

So, rather than (shudder), writing in your book, you slap a sticky note over the page. Then you write on the sticky note. Underline, highlight, draw circles and arrows, and write marginalia. On the sticky note. Not the book.
