Bold and Brave Spirits Don’t Know Defeat

Okay to enjoy the moments

I am glad I won this one and would do everything to win again and again and have the referee raise my hand but the moment looms dull, the excitement dampens with you looking down, your shoulders in a slump (as if defeated, oh dear; defeat is of the body, not the spirit) the referee holding down your hand to your side just to ensure you don’t dare smuggle it up in the air and that stabs the hearts we’ve won together tonight. the crowd we entertained —

That demeans the bursts of our energies and sweat, the long training runs at dawn the jabs on the sandbags the heat of the training the science and artistry of the drills and the honor in what we do and mocks the bold and brave spirits that propel our game and the fun we bring to the fans, yours and mine.

The major thrill is the task in the mission we accomplished not the exuberance of the one or the sullenness of the other; for no sky will show a rainbow in only one color. That's why I feel better raising your hand myself and giving you a shoulder ride for together we made it happen stretching ourselves on each other, to give our best to the world at large. Together we should savor the moment, for few men get that lucky privilege of the respect of their adversaries.
