Bojangles

A great restaurant with great food

A Bojangles restaurant under construction in San Antonio in June. Photo by Gerald Washington.

It feels like a lifetime,

since I’ve had your powerful food

that would always put me in a great mood

Well, always isn’t true

In the past, your spicy chicken was all I knew

That chicken was too hot to take

Those early impressions were hard to shake

Not even your amazing sides could make me see the light

It was eating your normal chicken that set me right

But you had a hard fight,

to win this potential customer over

One who would become a loyal soldier

To spread the good word near and far

To the deep sea and up to the stars

From your home state, North Carolina

To airports in Charlotte and Atlanta

I’m always excited to let people know what’s up

when the opportunity comes up

Another one of your children was built nearby

It gave me another chance for me to say hi

I haven’t had your food in two years

That drought ended today with a lot of cheer

Waiting in line today had me thrilled,

like this was my first time eating your meals

Each bite made me reflect and meditate

I felt like I was in a magical state

The sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit makes me weak in the knees

with this yummy iced tea

Even the potato tots had me shaking my head

Nothing else could be said

on how great this nowism felt

This joy I’ve kept

since this morning won’t go away

I hope this feeling stays

If this wish comes true,

it’s all because of you,

Bojangles

The food that hits you from all angles

Isn’t this a pretty Bojangles bag? Photo by Gerald Washington.
