Bluffing a Villager
A Primatria quest, continued

For a moment you’re lost for words. Then you decide to lie. Pick a common name, and bluff your way from there…
“There’s a family that my parents were close to,” you say. “Haven’t seen them for years, but they’re… uh… farmers.”
“Names?”
“We used to always call the father Uncle Sid.”
She narrows her eyes. “Sid Redbeard?”
You smile, relieved. “Aye. That’s the one.”
The woman glances to the side, then nods. “Very well. In that case, allow me to show you the way. I can at least walk you the first hundred yards or so of the best path. You’ll miss it otherwise.”
You follow her down a neat path at the side of her property, and then into a narrow earthy path with cherry trees down either side. It’s clearly well used, but she’s right — you would have missed it completely.
All the same, you don’t feel entirely comfortable. The woman was so suspicious… did she actually believe you?
At the end, a small hillock rises up above, with a ruined stone watchtower upon it. Beyond, cliffs rise up. The lake glimmers in the distance.
“You should take the shortcut below that there watchtower,” says the woman. “Get to the village before dark.”
“What is that tower?”
“There used to be goblins there, but the villagers have long since cleared those little beasts out. The stony tunnel that it guards cuts right through the cliffs. It will take you directly to Selkirk Village in a fraction of the time, compared to going round by the lake’s edge.”
She points, and with a grunt, turns and begins to walk away.
And then, you decide to…
- Take the shortcut through the tunnel (click here).
- Wait until she is out of sight, and then go the long way around by the lake instead (click here).
