Blossoming Trees Shining Across the Valley

The cherry trees were the first ones to bloom. First the wild ones. Then the industrialized ones. Later the apple trees started to show some buds. And together with the pear trees, they began to blossom all at the same time.

And soon the entire valley was in full color. Blossoms were stretching across several layers of trees. In the village. On the fields. And even at the edges of the forest. It looked like a festival of colors.

It is a festival of colors.

From afar most of these blossoms appear white. But only some of them are clear white. Most of them have a touch of pink on the petals. Which only comes to shine when standing close in front of the tree.

People always talk about the world-famous cherry blossoms in Japan. But cherry trees all across the world start to bloom in springtime. Even in your home country. They might not be planted in alleys like in the eastern Asian country. But they are by no means any less pretty.

If you get the chance to spot a cherry tree in your neighborhood go and check it out. And if spring is past already in your country then wait until the next blooming season.

And then go visit the tree. Every day. For a week. Or two. And watch it unfold its beauty. It will leave you speechless once you’ve seen the magic of the cherry blossoms.

I never paid much attention to the cherry trees in spring. Or any fruit-carrying trees in general. I only caught their attention once I could pick the cherries, apples, or other fruits.

But this is where it all starts. In early spring. Hopefully, after the last frost so that the blossoms can get pollinated and the fruits get a chance to grow.

After reading several articles about the cherry season in Japan and other Asian countries I lifted my head and looked out of the window. Across the village, I could see them.

The white and pink blossoming trees.

No, I don’t need to go to faraway places to experience this beauty. Which by no means explains I don’t want to go to Japan. But I don’t have to go there only to embrace the beauty of cherry blossoms.

Maybe I would talk differently about the phenomena once I’d seen them. In Japan. But this time the unknown preserves the beauty for me. Not being able to compare these blossoms in front of my doorstep with other cherry blossoms around the world I can safely say these are the most beautiful ones.

Not knowing any different can be a sad or helpless situation. Or it can simply make your life easier. Less worrisome. If you don’t know something, you can’t be upset or sad about it.

The grass always appears to be greener on the other side. But is it really? And is it in any way more colorful? Because that is what counts in my life. Colors. I live and love a colorful life.

Therefore I do walk around with wide-open eyes for anything shining in yellow or any other bright color.

“Happiness comes from within and it is something we decide on ahead of time.” — Boruch Akbosh

To be happy comes from within. If I decide to look for the beauty in life and be grateful for what I have, happiness will come to me by itself. Smile a little more often, help others to do the same, and focus on the positive things in life.
