Blessings of Life
The pond and beyond

With the rising sun the curtain went up. All the actors went to their marks and began the show. As light washed over everything music filled the air. The electricity of life amped up, flowing through everything.
Standing barefoot in the sand along the shore of the pond Eric had already taken a drink of sunshine and now, with eyes closed, was feeling the energy course through his body. He could feel it emanating out into his field as well as down into the ground. The birdsong calibrated his joy into a powerful harmonic that melted away any notions of separation.
Finally, Eric raised his arms and placed the palms of his hands over his heart. Taking three deep breaths he then brought his hands out in front of him and placed them palm to palm, prayer fashion. He whispered softly, “Thank you.”
Opening his eyes, he then walked slowly in the soft cool sand around the pond (in a clockwise direction). As he did so he blessed the trees and the ducks swimming on the pond. He blessed the birds and thanked them for their divine music. He blessed a little green frog that he saw. He blessed a bee that buzzed past him. He blessed the one and only little cloud that was in the sky. He blessed the fragrance of the pond and the plants surrounding it. And then he blessed himself for as he walked around the pond he became part of it.
When he came full circle back to where he first stood he again whispered, “Thank you,” as he looked out over the pond.
Then Eric turned and walked back to his car. Putting his shoes back on, he then drove back to town.
None of his friends knew how Eric started his days. He never told anyone about it. If his friends had known what he did every morning they surely would have called him a weirdo.
Something else that his friends did not know is that Eric blessed each and every one of them whenever he ran into them.
