#BlackLivesMatter: When Silence Is A Crime.

When animals are shown more care and consideration than a human life.

The #BlackLivesMatter movement is about something as simple as human rights. How can it be 2020 and we are still fighting for human rights? How crazy does that sound? Literally the right to be treated as a human being! The right to be treated fairly in a society that has fooled us into thinking it was civilized.

The pain, the anger, and the feelings of injustice run so deep for the black community but there are still people trying to scream louder and longer that #AllLivesMatter… that black lives movement is not dismissing the value of the lives of others, it’s so terribly sad that it has to been explained but it is a movement that is calling to place the same value on black lives that has been placed on white lives.

The ‘all lives matter’ hashtag is incredibly ignorant, it suggests a complete blindness to the pain and suffering black people have gone through and are still going through.

The continuous deaths of black people at the hands of those who are supposed to be upholding and enforcing the law is the epitome of injustice and oppression.

If the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter results in feelings of racial bias and discrimination and the need to remind people that in fact #alllivesmatter… I have to inform you that you are probably racist.

Of course, every single life is supposed to matter, but all you have to do a little search on police brutality, you will see that all colors are not treated equally. All you have to do is see the force used against an unarmed black man in contrast to the almost gentle handling of an ARMED white man.

You do not have to be black to care about is taking place around the world right now, what happened to George Floyd is not a ‘black problem’, it’s a human problem.

I saw a tweet today that tried to defame George Floyd, the user went on to say that the points that were highlighted were not to say he deserved what happened to him but they were just ‘trying to add context.’

What context is needed in an event like that? How is a tweet like that necessary? What good does it do?

The purpose of the tweet was just to defame a black man and possibly justify his death, what other context could there be?

At the end of the day, an unarmed black man was killed. He was unarmed, he was not fighting his arrest. An unnecessary level of restraint and force was used for longer than should ever have been necessary.

Hearts all over the world should be broken because a life was stolen, history is repeating itself and black people are still fighting to be treated as human beings.

People are rioting, protesting and looting because the world did nothing when black people were beaten and killed by the same people who were supposed to have taken an oath to serve and protect. Where can a black person turn when the world they live in ignores their pain and is compliant in their suffering.

You don’t have to be black to feel angry about the injustices black people continue to face, you just have to be human. Together we can make a difference.
