Black Coffee

The magic elixir.

Is there anything better than those first slurps of coffee in the morning? the sound of the pour tickling my ear amber rippled dance, swirl with flecks of gold warm aroma, of chickory, maybe chocolate, delight in me each steamy ribbon beckons the come hither fingers wisp atop the rim of my mug Sweet, so sweet is the steam that moistens my nose A slow gentle kiss of the rim to invite a slurp the heat bites me back wags it’s finger reminding me to take my time at first in appreciation for the moment There’s that light, sleepy fog swept away gracefully replaced with a perky straight spine, bright ideas, a certain gusto I’m ready for the day reminded that not all good things have to be sweet
